Enough is enough on lead paint

The latest revelation of lead paint, this time at Curtin Primary School, further confirms that Labor and the Greens can’t be trusted to keep our school communities safe.

Sections of another Canberra primary school have been cordoned off due to high levels of lead contamination. This is the latest in a series of partial school closures following the discovery of toxic materials.

When Labor was in charge, they doggedly downplayed the seriousness of the hazardous materials, failing to satisfy the deep-seated concerns of parents and the school community. They have not been upfront with the community about how many other schools have high levels of lead contamination.

Enough is enough. There must be an urgent audit of all schools to determine the real state of school infrastructure and the extent of hazardous materials.

There is a better way.

The Canberra Liberals will make Canberra the best place to live, work and raise a family. We will undertake a comprehensive audit of school infrastructure, with hazardous materials being a primary target. Our students and teachers deserve the best and safest learning environments in Australia.

It is evidently clear that Labor has no plan to maintain our schools to provide safe learning environments. Just look at their record. Only the Canberra Liberals can be trusted to provide our students and teachers with the safest and best learning environments in the country.
